Book grant essay contest
The Fairchild 56 Club is sponsoring an essay contest with a $100 book grant as the prize. The contest is open to all Fairchild enlisted members E-1 through E-6. The essay must include a cover page with the essay application (found on the Fairchild Intranet) and Tuition Assistance form to verify enrollment. It must be Times New Roman, 12 point type, double spaced, have one inch margins on all sides, and be one to two pages in length.
The topic is as follows: Albert Einstein once said, "Try not to become a man of success; but rather, try to become a man of value." Relate this to your military experience and write what it means to you.
Essays must be turned in by June 29 to either Tech. Sgt. Miranda McKenzie, 247-4713, or Tech. Sgt. Tina Merrow, 247-2003. Essays will be evaluated based upon grammar, content and correct format. Winners will be announced July 19.

Air University's Associate to Baccalaureate Cooperative
Do you have your Community College of the Air Force degree? Interested in earning your Bachelor's degree in 60 semester hours or less? Air University's Associate to Baccalaureate Cooperative Program has been approved and is available for viewing as of June 7. The "CCAF plus 60" program launches June 15, which is now defined as Category I, and students will soon have two new options to consider when selecting their baccalaureate degree program. The Category II program is designed for students currently pursuing a CCAF degree; Category III requires more than 60 semester hours in programs identified as having exceptional value to the Air Force. As a new Air Force program, AU ABC continues to evolve in its journey to provide advanced degree opportunities to enlisted Airmen. The new phases (Category II and Category III) will be unveiled later this year, to provide expanded degree programs and school choice options for CCAF students. AU ABC will offer Airmen two additional four-year degree program plans.

Study skills class
This seminar is designed for military, civilians or dependents returning to college after a long absence. The primary focus of study skills is to introduce individuals to time management in order to balance the demands of school and working life. Other modules include memory, reading for comprehension and test taking tips. In this course the student will assess their learning style, make a study calendar and establish goals. Classes are scheduled July 11, Aug. 8 and Sep 12. They are held at the Base Education Center in room 103 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with lunch from noon to 1:00 p.m. Reservations are necessary. Force Development Education
- Enlisted 101 helps enlisted personnel manage their careers and enhance their potential for success. Airmen basic through senior airmen, and new supervisors of enlisted Airmen, can attend the class June 29, 8 a.m. - noon, at the education center, room 103.
- Anatomy of Leadership and Influence teaches students to understand their strengths and qualifications, and achieve goals through planning and helping others. All military and civilian personnel can attend the class June 27, 8 a.m. - noon, at the education center, room 105.
- Basic Listening Skills teaches the essentials of listening skills, saving time and resources, and avoiding challenges through better communication. All military and civilian personnel can attend the class June 29, 8 - 10 a.m., at the education center, room 105.

Nursing Education and Commissioning Program
The Air Force is now accepting applications from qualified enlisted members for a new enlisted commissioning program. The new annual Nurse Enlisted Commissioning Program gives enlisted members the opportunity to complete a full-time Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at an accredited university while on active duty. The nurse corps hopes to select 50 students for the upcoming fall semester.
The NECP selection board is scheduled to convene at the Air Force Personnel Center at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas, in July. Applications must be received no later than June 25. For information go to www.af.mil/news/story.asp?id=123052030.

Spokane Falls Community College
Registration is now open for current students for summer and fall quarters at Spokane Falls Community College. Fairchild will offer English 101, History 101 and Humanities 224 for the summer quarter starting June 25. Student can register on base for SFCC classes; Web registration is available for current students. To schedule an advising appointment with a counselor or for more information, call 533-8937.

Park University
- Effective July 1, Park University will no longer accept standardized testing (DANTES/CLEP, etc.) for CS140, Intro to Computers. Students must transfer this class in or take it with Park. The registrar's office must receive scores by June 30 for credit. Call 244-2020 or e-mail fair@park.edu for information.

- Park University's Fairchild Campus Center will offer the Writing Competency Test July 17. Students should sign up at least two terms prior to taking EN306/CJ441/CJ450. A passing WCT score is a prerequisite to register for EN306/CJ441/CJ450 and also a graduation requirement. Call 244-2020 to schedule an appointment to take the mandatory WCT.

- Park University students receiving Pell Grants or student loans should be aware the process of dropping a class may change eligibility. If Park is required to return a portion of an amount already awarded, the student will be responsible for any balance resulting from the return of the loan or grant money. Before dropping classes, students should check with their site administrator to determine if loan or grant eligibility will be affected. For information, call 244-2020.

- All consortiums and visiting student agreements must be approved by the host and home institution registrars, and be received in the student financial services office at Park University before the beginning of the applicable term. Students who want a consortium/visiting student agreement to be processed need to start their paperwork early, or they will not be paid for the consortium hours. Students must also ensure the registrar at the host institution completes and forwards the form in a timely manner. Call 244-2020 for information.

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University offers undergraduate degrees, graduate degrees and non-degree certificates of completion programs. Aviation and aerospace courses can be completed either in a traditional classroom setting or over the internet. Embry-Riddle's Spokane Center will begin registration for the Fall 07 term July 16; classes start Aug. 6. Both undergraduate and graduate classes will be offered.
