To implement this action, AF Lodging will create special rate codes to discount the daily lodging rate to 1/30th of the member’s authorized BAH rate, beginning Aug. 31, 2021, after DAF service members reach the end of their Temporary Living Expenses (TLE) authorization.  The following guidelines apply to this authorization.

  1. Individuals will be allowed to stay in temporary lodging support status in up to 30-day increments, extendable on certification by the installation commander (may be delegated o further than MSG/CC) pending lodging space available.
  2. Lodging Priority One TDY/PCS reservations will not be canceled or curtailed to accommodate extension requests.
  3. Prior to receiving the reduced rate, DAF service members must provide CPTS notification to the Lodging Manager certifying the date the member exhausted their TLE authorization.  The TLE certification process should be developed locally to expedite implementation of the reduced rate.
  4. This discounted cost temporary lodging authorization does not apply to pet fees, which are a flat rate of $10 per day and not part of TLE.
  5. This program only applies to Airmen and Guardians.
  6. These discounted rates are not retroactive.

An operations guide will be provided to lodging management to include guidance for guest reimbursement actions to cover gaps in dates resulting from TLE verification and implementation of the special rate codes.
