In addition, Air Force regulations do not allow legal assistance attorneys to provide confidential legal advice or enter into an attorney-client relationship in the following areas:
  • Criminal matters or adverse administrative actions (e.g., LORs or Article 15s);
  • Official matters in which the United States Government has an interest;
  • Legal issues or concerns raised on behalf of third parties;
  • Issues related to standards of ethical conduct;
  • Issues related to the Law of Armed Conflict;
  • Issues involving personal commercial enterprises;
  • Issues involving Private Organizations; or
  • Drafting or reviewing real estate documents, separation agreements, divorce decrees, or living trusts, except for a general review to identify potential problems in order to explain the need to make a referral or protect a client from signing an unconscionable agreement.
