Request a Flyover

Important Information: Flyover requests for civilian events will be limited to one of the five Patriotic Holidays traditionally supported by the service. Those events are: Veteran’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day (July 4th), POW/MIA Day and Armed Forces Day, as well as for airshows and other aviation themed events. In addition, national-level sporting events and air shows will also be considered for eligibility.

Please note that fundraising events and most high school/youth sporting events will not be eligible for aerial support.

All flyover requests must meet criteria outlined in Air Force Instruction 35-105 and must be accomplished before civil twilight without exception.

STEPS

Step 1: The flyover request and approval process are managed by first visiting the Air Force Public Affairs Air Force Aerial Events Website at www.airshows.pa.hq.af.mil. You must submit requests, track the status of your request, and receive notification of approval or denial at this site. The site also outlines eligibility for support.

Step 2: Once your request with SAF/PA is submitted, print your DD Form 2535, send to your local FAA for signature and send back to SAF/PA with all pages complete. SAF/PA cannot process a request that has not been submitted online or without FAA coordination.

Once a flyover request is approved by SAF/PA, you will receive notification and an approval number. Once this number is issued, it is the requester’s responsibility to secure a unit to support your event.

SAF/PA approval could take up to 14 days.

Step 3: Notify Fairchild AFB of your approval and intent to request our aircraft to support at least 45 days prior to your event by completing our form here.

For more questions, contact Fairchild Public Affairs at 509-247-5705.

TIMELINE

You must request a flyover at least 90 days prior to your event. (SAF/PA 14 days + Wing 45 days)
