Fairchild's Health Protection Condition Level: BRAVO +

On Jan. 30, 2020, the World Health Organization declared a public health emergency of international concern for the 2019 novel coronavirus, or COVID-19. On Jan. 31, 2020, the secretary of Health and Human Services declared a public health emergency in the United States and announced new measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The current epidemic, which originated in mainland China, has demonstrated the capacity of COVID-19 to spread globally. While supporting other government agencies’ response to the COVID-19 threat, the Department of the Air Force is responding appropriately to protect the health of the force and maintain operational readiness.

  • Air Mobility Command temporarily suspends most Space-A travel due to COVID-19

    Air Mobility Command today temporarily suspended most Space-Available travel aboard AMC and contracted aircraft, except for certain Category I, IV, and VI travel, effective March 21 in order to limit COVID-19’s spread and its impact on the force.
  • USAFE supports Italy COVID-19 response

    In response to the ongoing the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak, an 86th Airlift Wing C-130J Super Hercules out of Ramstein Air Base, Germany, transported an En-Route Patient Staging System (ERPSS) to Aviano Air Base, Italy, for delivery to the Italian Ministry of Defense.

    With the threat of COVID-19 impacting the health and well-being of the technical school students in training on Keesler Air Force Base, leadership has had to develop creative solutions to a unique problem.
  • National Guard ramps up COVID-19 response

    Air Force Gen. Joseph L. Lengyel told reporters at a Pentagon briefing that it is even possible that tens of thousands of Guard members could be activated as the situation unfolds, depending on the needs of communities.
