    National Salute to Veteran Patients Week is held the week of February 14 every year to say "thank you" to more than 98,000 veterans who are treated in Department of Veterans Affairs medical centers, outpatient clinics and nursing homes.     The Scholarships for Military Children Program was created in 2001 to recognize the contributions of military families to the readiness of the fighting force, and to celebrate the role of the commissary in the military family community. The program is administered by Fisher House Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides assistance to service members and their families.
  • Team Fairchild commemorates Wreaths Across America

    Representatives from Fairchild Air Force Base traveled to the Fort George Wright Cemetery and the Washington State Veterans Cemetery yesterday to pay honor to the veterans buried at the sites as part of the Wreaths Across America program. A nationally recognized day of observance to veterans, since December of 1992. Their mission is to remember, honor and tech and is carried out by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, as well as over 1,100 additional locations in all 50 U.S. States, at seas and abroad.

  • Fairchild Airman court-martialed, sentenced for wrongful drug use

    An Airman First Class from the 92nd Maintenance Squadron was tried by Summary Court Martial at Fairchild Air Force Base, Nov. 3. The Airman pled guilty to one charge of wrongful use of a controlled substance, in violation of Article 112a of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. The Airman wrongfully used alprazolam, a substance commonly referred
