Fairchild's Health Protection Condition Level: BRAVO +

On Jan. 30, 2020, the World Health Organization declared a public health emergency of international concern for the 2019 novel coronavirus, or COVID-19. On Jan. 31, 2020, the secretary of Health and Human Services declared a public health emergency in the United States and announced new measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The current epidemic, which originated in mainland China, has demonstrated the capacity of COVID-19 to spread globally. While supporting other government agencies’ response to the COVID-19 threat, the Department of the Air Force is responding appropriately to protect the health of the force and maintain operational readiness.

UPDATED MASK GUIDANCE

A message from the 92nd Air Refueling Wing commander:

As you may have seen, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) announced yesterday that in general, masks no longer need to be worn by people who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The latest guidelines can be found here. Likewise, the DoD also modified mask wear policy IAW CDC guidance, and the Governor of Washington announced an intent to lift the state’s universal mask mandate for vaccinated people.

Effectively immediately, all personnel on Fairchild AFB who have been fully vaccinated (i.e., two weeks beyond final dose of COVID-19 vaccine) are no longer required to wear masks indoors or outdoors when performing official duties. However, masks are still required even for fully vaccinated personnel in all healthcare facilities and school settings. Also, Washington state mask requirements still apply to off-duty activities of all personnel, whether vaccinated or not, on and off base. We anticipate masks will remain required for all people in other settings such as public transportation and airport terminals.

Please note: Personnel who are not yet fully vaccinated are still required to wear masks IAW previously published guidelines.

Per DoD policy, personnel are highly encouraged to get the vaccine to protect their health, their families, their community, and lower the public health risks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Our 92 MDG is standing by to support. If you would like to get the COVID-19 vaccine, appointments are available for ALL individuals eligible to receive a vaccination from the DoD ages 16 and up. Visiting Medical Clinic

The Patient Entrance (north side of the building) will continue to be a single point-of-entry into the facility from the parking lot will be accessible via McFarlane Road (see the below map for reference). Upon entering the building, beneficiaries will be asked COVID screening questions. Members who have symptoms of COVID will not be allowed to enter the building, but they will be asked to call our Respiratory Clinic for additional screening where a medical authority will determine if they need an appointment for testing.

Members who have an appointment in the Respiratory Clinic WILL NOT enter the building through the Patient Entrance on the north side of the building. Signage will direct patients to the Respiratory Clinic parking on the south side of the building. Signs located at the parking stalls will provide further instructions.

As a reminder, we are no longer doing walk-in COVID testing. ALL beneficiaries require an appointment for testing, which can be obtained by calling 509-247-2361. Appointment availability varies, but we are currently able to see nearly all patients within 24-36 hours.

President signs executive order calling up Air Force Reserve medics, other specialties
For the Air Force Reserve, personnel already serving in the Selected Reserve and Participating Individual Ready Reserve, as well as those assigned to the Individual Ready Reserve, may be asked to volunteer to activate in support of COVID-19 response. If taskings exceed the volunteer pool, involuntary mobilization of the SELRES and IRR to active status is now authorized to ensure mission accomplishment.

Air Force BMT adjusts schedules, locations to sustain mission readiness
In order to ensure the health and safety of trainees and instructors and to preserve dorm capacity, new recruits will be brought in based on a four-week repeating cycle that includes stringent restricted movement guidelines, dedicated time for deep cleaning between rotations, resetting the instructor cadre and the testing of an alternate BMT location at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi.

Hill AFB fighter wings continue flying operations amid COVID-19 crisis
As cases continue to spread in the U.S. and more guidelines and restrictions are put in place to prevent the spread of the disease, the wings implemented their own measures two weeks ago. The largest was segmented flying operations.
