  • A week in history July 1 - 8

    The 92nd Bombardment Wing was re-designated as the 92nd Air Refueling Wing, and Fairchild Air Force Base was transferred from Air Combat Command to Air Mobility Command. The ceremony marked the creation of the largest ARW in the Air Force with five active during air refueling squadrons totaling more than 60 KC-135s assigned. Dubbed, “Tanker Hub of the Northwest,” the wing was capable of maintaining an air bridge across the nation and world in support of U.S. and allied forces. The first commander was Brig. Gen. Gary Voellger.
  • 18th AF commander visits Fairchild AFB leadership

    Lt. Gen. Giovanni Tuck, 18th Air Force commander, visited 92nd Air Refueling Wing and 141st ARW leadership June 7, 2017, at Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington. Tuck spoke with leadership about his priorities and expectations going forward as the 18th Air Force commander. Tuck leads Air Mobility Command’s operational mission as Air Forces Transportation, the air component of U.S. Transportation Command. He assumed command of the 18th AF June 1, 2017.   • Sheet metal and the KC-135 Stratotanker

    Team Fairchild’s KC-135 Stratotankers first took to the skies in the 1950s and 1960s and have continued to support missions across the globe. A big contributor to keeping the aircraft flying is the sheet metal shop here at Fairchild.
