Fairchild aids in Hurricane Sandy recovery
Staff Sgt. Saul Buenrostro, left, and Master Sgt. Jason Nipar, both C-5 loadmasters, 60th Airlift Wing, Travis Air Force Base, Calif., lay the first board down to enhance the ramp of the C-5 on the Fairchild AFB flightline Nov. 3. Two of the largest utility vehicles weighed about 50,000 pounds and were more than 35 feet in length. A wooden ramp allowed these larger vehicles to enter the aircraft at a shallower angle. The C-5 departed with 19 BPA employee volunteers and five of their 14 vehicles at about 11 a.m. for Joint Base McGuire Dix Lakehurst. The rest of the vehicles are being flown to the East Coast by two C-17 Globemasters assigned to Joint Base Charleston, S.C. BPA will make their way to Long Island, New York to help restore power that was knocked out by Hurricane Sandy. (U.S. Air Force photo by Airman 1st Class Taylor Curry)

Team helps Airmen prepare for zombie apocalypse
To survive a zombie attack, people don't need to run faster than the zombie, they just need to be faster than the person next to them. The Fairchild Airman's Running Team hopes to train people to do just that. This “zombie-themed” run starts at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Meet time is 5:45 p.m. at the Funspot to discuss ground rules and route. The event will also be an opportunity for experts at the 92nd Medical Group to practice their skills with moulage makeup starting at 4 p.m. (U.S. Air Force graphic by Senior Airman Benjamin Stratton)
