Airman 1st Class Kyle Tidwell, 92nd Operation Support Squadron airfield systems technician, maintains ground to air communications navigational aids and the weather systems. He was selected as a Fairchild’s Finest.

“The support from my shop and my supervisors are what lead me in the right direction to achieve Fairchild’s Finest,” said Tidwell. “My supervisor’s mentorship helped provided me the time to volunteer off base at my local church by running a youth ministry course for 15 children and help build trails with the Washington trails association.”

Tidwell has become an integral member of his shop in the nine months since his arrival according to 92nd OSS leadership.

He has led a three member team to repair the base cloud height sensor, recovering critical weather information for landing aircraft in doing so. Tidwell tore down and rebuilt an antenna coupler for ground to air radio transmissions, restoring two failed connections, effectively tripling an antenna’s radio capacity. He restored the crash net connection in the air traffic control tower and trained 92nd Communications Squadron personnel in how to rebuild their audio interconnections.

Tidwell is also committed to bettering himself through higher education opportunities, but keeps in mind his duties first and foremost.

“While maintaining my five level upgrade training at the shop, I’m also working on my Community College of the Air Force degree right now and I plan on attending college afterwards to obtain an electrical engineering degree,” Tidwell said.

Airman 1st Class Kyle Tidwell truly is one of Team Fairchild’s Finest .
