Airmen remain vigilant, prepared to respond
First responders assess a "hazardous" leak during a training exercise at Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington, June 26, 2014. Firefighters from across the Air Force came to Fairchild to attend a hazardous materials technical training course designed to improve weapons of mass destruction and HazMat incident response capability. After the 64-hour course, students received certifications recognized by the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress. Students are also taught how to research a chemical's effect on the body, reactions with other chemicals and proper identification of personal protection equipment.
