FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- Fairchild Air Force Base has increased its Health Protection Condition (HPCON) Level from Bravo to Charlie consistent with Governor Jay Inslee’s “Stay Home, Stay Healthy” order issued for Washington State on March 23.
Effective 3 p.m. on March 24, 2020, base access will be limited to DoD ID card holders and those required to work on base with few exceptions. Additionally, the 92nd Medical Group main campus will remain open from 7:30 - 11:30 a.m. Mondays through Fridays for COVID-19 testing and the main pharmacy, and the satellite pharmacy will be open from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m.
The Child Development Center is available for those expected to report for duty, and the Base Exchange and Commissary will remain open.
Airmen and their families are asked to avoid social gatherings and stay at home in-line with Governor Inslee’s guidance. Exceptions include movement to get food and necessary supplies, take care of a relative or family member, seek necessary health care, and travel for work as required or directed. Going outside to exercise and enjoy fresh air is encourage for mental and physical well-being, as long as a minimum six feet of social distancing is maintained.
“As we’ve implemented measures to prevent and mitigate the effects of COVID-19 across our base and the Spokane community, our focus remains on the health and well-being of our team,” said Col. Derek Salmi, 92nd Air Refueling Wing commander. “Team Fairchild’s care and support efforts have been simply outstanding and we will continue to stay lock-step with our community partners as we transition into a different sense of ‘normal’ in the days ahead so together we can ‘Flatten the Curve.’”
There have been no new cases of COVID-19 on Fairchild as of this release.
