Col. Yvonne Spencer assumed command of the 92nd Mission Support Group from Col. David Stookey during a ceremony here July 14.

Spencer joins Team Fairchild after serving as commander of the 819th RED HORSE Squadron at Malmstrom AFB, Montana.

“I look forward to this mission,” Spencer said. “I have two things for the men and women of the 92nd MSG: the first is a promise. I promise to you I will lead with humility and I will be the type of leader you need to continue on with those things that you need to do so you will be able to say ‘can do’ and ‘will do’ for the men and women, and their families, of Team Fairchild. And the second is a request: I request that you strap in and be ready for the ride. Because we will indeed embark upon a wonderful journey as we continue the mission for the 92nd Air Refueling Wing, providing service and excellence each and every day.”

Spencer commissioned in 1994 at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Mechanics.

She also holds a Master of Science in Environmental and Engineering Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.

Her decorations include a Bronze Star, a Meritorious Service Medal with silver oak leaf cluster, a Joint Service Commendation Medal, an Air Force Commendation Medal with bronze oak leaf cluster and an Air Force Achievement Medal.

The 92nd ARW commander, Col. Brian McDaniel, was the officiating officer for the ceremony.
