A KC-135 Stratotanker assigned to the 92nd Air Refueling Wing takes off in preparation for deployment from Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington, Aug. 12, 2024. For decades, the KC-135 has been the backbone of Air Mobility Command’s air refueling capabilities around the world because of its ability to extend global reach and project U.S. air power. Airmen assigned to the 92nd Air Refueling Wing deployed outside of the normal Air Force Force Generation cycle as part of U.S. force posture changes in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility to mitigate the possibility of regional escalation.
