Fairchild Airmen helps kick off Sled Hockey tourney

Master Sgt. Richard Ortega, Fairchild Falcons varsity hockey team president, races toward a puck during the exhibition sled hockey match at the Frontier Ice Arena here in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Sept. 23, 2016. Instead of ice skates on their feet, sled hockey athletes are outfitted with sleds and short hockey sticks with metal “teeth.” The teeth allow for traction on the ice and propels the players in the direction of their choice.
