15 years later, remembering 9/11

Members from the 92nd Security Forces Squadron watch members from Fairchild's honor guard during the Patriot's Day retreat ceremony Sept. 9, 2016, at Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash. “On the morning of Sept. 11, 2001, 19 terrorists from Al-Qaeda hijacked four commercial airplanes deliberately crashing two of the planes into the upper floors of the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center and a third plane into the Pentagon,” said Senior Airman Jonathan Jones, 92nd Civil Engineer Squadron firefighter, during the ceremony. “The Twin Towers ultimately collapsed because of the damage sustained from the impacts and the resulting fires.” (U.S. Air Force photo/Airman 1st Class Taylor Shelton)
