Joint exercise highlights medical capabilities

2nd Lt. Richard Cardenas, 141st Medical Group, prepares to administer an anesthetic to a patient requiring an amputation during a joint exercise Oct. 31, 2014, at Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash. Cardenas was part of a five-man surgical team providing assistance to members in a simulated combat environment. This exercise also included soldiers and helicopters from the Army's 168th Aviation Regiment, also stationed at Fairchild.
