The water jet cuts precise shapes from a piece of metal during a demonstration for the 92nd Contracting Squadron Dec. 2, 2014, at Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash. The tour’s intent was to increase the understanding of the maintenance mission and show the contracting specialists firsthand the important role they play by purchasing equipment that saves time, money, and manpower for the 92nd Maintenance Group. The water jet is a large piece of equipment recently installed in the 92nd Maintenance Squadron metals shop that uses water with a garnet abrasive to precisely cut perfect and accurate lines in a variety of materials, saving time, manpower, money, and resources.
