Retreat commemorates 9/11

FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. – Three members of Fairchild’s Honor Guard lower the American flag during a Patriot’s Day Retreat here Sept. 11. After lowering the flag, the Honor Guard members folded it and presented it to Col. Thomas Sharpy, 92nd Air Refueling Wing commander, during the formal commemoration of the men and women who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Since that day seven years ago, 1.3 million people have served in the United States military in support of the Global War on Terrorism. (U.S. Air Force photo / Staff Sgt. JT May III)
