FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. – John Woods, who served as a Navy gunner’s mate in WWI and the Korean War, displays his patriotic ride in front of Club Fairchild here April 24 during Retiree Appreciation Day events. Mr. Woods, who celebrates his 82nd birthday April 27, spent 12 years in the Navy and served aboard the USS Cassin Young, now a museum ship located at the Boston Naval Shipyard in Charlestown, Mass. “Anything related to the military and our flag, I just love,” he said.
