Retired Fairchild officer pays a visit

FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. – Retired Maj. Malcolm A. Stewart stands next to the Douglas C-47 Skytrain, also nicknamed “Gooney Bird”, at the Hertiage Park here. Major Stewart, former public relations officer at Fairchild from 1956 to 1960, was back in the Spokane area to attend his 68th high school reunion. He also had the opportunity to fly the CE4 glider, B-24 Liberator, B-17 Flying Fortress, P-47 Thunderbolt, the P-51 Mustang, P-38 Lightning, Douglas A-26 Invader, Noorduyn UC 64 Norseman, Douglas A-20 Havoc, AT6 Texan as well as other training aircraft with the Army Air Corp.
