SCOPE office merges military, civilian vigilance programs

FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. – From left, Lt. Col. Gerald Szybist, commander of the 92nd Security Forces Squadron here; Col. Ozzie Knezovich, Spokane County sheriff; and Col. Roger Watkins, 92nd Air Refueling Wing vice commander, introduce a new SCOPE office here. The Sheriff Community Oriented Policing Effort is the civilian counterpart of Eagle Eyes, an Air Force’s vigilance program that teaches personnel to remain vigilant, take note of suspicious activity, and report such suspicions to proper authorities. The on-base SCOPE office marks an integration of the two civilian and military programs, which will increase security and vigilance awareness among people both on the base and in the surrounding community.
