Team Fairchild demonstrates strategic deterrence readiness during Titan Fury 24-1
Capt. Gabriel Hall, a KC-135 Stratotanker pilot assigned to the 97th Air Refueling Squadron, buys breakfast while on standby during exercise Titan Fury 24-1 at Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington, Nov. 14, 2023. The 92nd Force Support Squadron provided hot and ready meals for the alert crew to ensure mission readiness. Titan Fury is a recurring total force exercise that ensures Fairchild’s Airmen are trained and ready to provide Rapid Global Mobility at a moment’s notice in support of strategic deterrence and the National Defense Strategy. During the exercise, Airmen demonstrated how various support activities contribute to generating and mobilizing KC-135s including security, maintenance, services, fuel operations and others. For decades, the KC-135 has been the backbone of air refueling around the globe because of its ability to extend global reach and project U.S. air power. This exercise is an example of how the 92nd Air Refueling Wing and the 141st ARW at Fairchild AFB are engaged, postured and ready with a credible force to assure, deter and defend in an increasingly complex security environment. The 92nd Logistics Readiness Squadron utilizes the newly implemented Weigh-In-Motion scale to expedite cargo deployment function with a more accurate and efficient process at Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington, April 17, 2019. This innovation reduces the entire process to be as simple as driving over a plate in the ground to display the weight, dimensions and center of balance in one step. KC-135
A KC-135 Stratotanker refuels an F-15 Eagle midflight. The Stratotanker was originally used to support bombers of the Strategic Air Command. The midair refueling capabilities allowed fighter missions to spend hours on the front lines, rather than a few minutes, which was usually due to the limited size of fuel tanks in the fighters.
