92nd Operations Group Hosts 'boom rodeo'
U.S. Airmen assigned to the 384th Air Refueling Squadron load cargo into a KC-135 Stratotanker during the 92nd Operations Group boom rodeo at Fairchild Air Force Base, Washington, Sept. 20, 2023. During the rodeo, six air refueling squadrons competed in a forklift loading event, Tactical Combat Casualty Care and a water survival scenario. Scenarios like this enable Airmen to get hands-on training with tools to which they may not always have access. Team Fairchild completes 24-hour ruck march in remembrance of POW/MIA
A formation of survival, evasion, resistance and escape candidates complete the first leg of a 24-hour ruck march in honor of National POW/MIA Recognition Day outside of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3386 in Airway Heights, Washington, Sept. 14, 2023. During the ruck march, Airmen from Fairchild Air Force Base kept the POW/MIA flag in constant motion. The ruck march began on Sept. 14 at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in downtown Spokane and continued through Airway Heights before concluding at Fairchild AFB. The event culminated with a recognition ceremony on Sept. 15 to honor all American prisoners of war and those Americans still missing in action, as well as their families. Every year, the third Friday in September is recognized in the United States as National POW/MIA Recognition Day.
