Supporting the 92nd Maintenance Group through specialized, hands on training is what 16 Instructors at the 373rd Training Squadron Detachment 13 deliver. They provided training for more than 550 students in 2014, and have trained more than 60 students so far this year.

Training requests are sent from the 92nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron training managers and then are processed through Det. 13 for scheduling classes. After receiving the training requests the instructors build, plan and schedule classes 90 days out.

Detachment 13 specializes in 46 aircraft maintenance courses that are formally approved through Air Education and Training Command. More than 35 of the classes offered are accredited through the Community College of the Air Force.

"Courses are a couple days up to a few weeks long," said Master Sgt. Christopher Reiter, the 373rd TRS Det. 13 detachment chief. "The courses help advance the knowledge they already have in their career fields."

As well as the 46 maintenance courses, they also offer a Principles of Instruction course for Active Duty, Reserve and Air National Guard members stationed worldwide.

"Not only is our main mission to support the maintenance training aspect for the flying mission at Fairchild, but we support other training endeavors as well," said Maj. Jeffrey Hunziker, the 373rd TRS commander.

According to Hunziker, the Principles of Instruction course provides training to individuals where they learn how to be an instructor for their training flight.

Classes are conducted in the classroom, on the flightline and in the shop including adjustable hours to meet training needs for the individuals attending classes.

"We are 100 percent dedicated to creating a legacy of expert technicians, motivated warriors and inspired leaders," said Chief Master Sgt. Steven Fuentes, the AETC 373rd TRS chief enlisted manager. "That will help sustain combat capability."
