Fairchild's Finest is a weekly recognition program that highlights top-performing members of Team Fairchild.

Rank/Name:
Senior Airman Stephon Sharief

Unit of assignment:
92nd Operations Group

Duty title:
Group Unit Deployment Manager and Boom Operator

Hometown:
Grand Forks, North Dakota

What do you do on a daily basis at Fairchild Air Force Base?
I enable the operations group to deploy 592 personnel in four squadrons at any given moment. I track all required training and mobility items to ensure the units maximum deployment capability. Additionally, as a boom operator I am always combat mission ready.

What do you enjoy about your job?
I really enjoy that my job allows me to gain a worldly view and meet many different individuals every single day. I feel a great sense of pride when I prepare each individual to deploy and ensure they are fully capable of meeting all mission requirements.

Why did you choose to serve in the military?
I was fortunate enough to grow up in a military household where both my father and mother served. You could even say, I was raised in the military. From before I can remember I knew the military was my calling and would provide me with the ability to complete my one goal: to see the world. Ever since joining the Air Force I have seen the world traveled to many different countries.

Time in military:
Three years.

What goals do you want to achieve or meet while at Fairchild AFB?
Upgrade to Instructor Boom Operator, complete my Community College of the Air Force degree and continue furthering my education

Hobbies:
Riding my motorcycle, running and hanging out with friends

Who is your favorite mentor and what did you learn from him/her?
My favorite mentor would have to be my grandfather. He taught me hard work can get you anywhere in life. It's through the motivation he has instilled in me I apply this attitude each and every day in my work environment, as well as in my personal life.

What others are saying about this week's Fairchild Finest:
"Sharief is hard charging and meticulous in what he does. He operates at a level beyond his rank allowing me to place much greater responsibility on him than I would generally do with senior airman." - Senior Master Sgt. Jeremiah Docken, 92nd Operations Group superintendent.
