Airmen from the 92nd Logistics Readiness Squadron took a day to watch a professional baseball game between the Boston Redsox and the Seattle Mariners June 27.

The Tickets and Travel Office here organized the outing to watch the professional baseball game in Seattle, Wash., for 94 people including Airmen from the 92nd LRS and other members from the Team Fairchild family.

Everyone attending had the pleasure of watching a close game; it was a pitchers' dual and came down to second baseman Jose Lopez's walk-off double in the bottom of the 11th inning to drive in the winning run for the Mariners.

"Being in the presence of all the great players was the exciting part," said Senior Airman Kyle Bemis, 92 LRS vehicle maintenance mechanic. "Plus, the game got really exciting at the end even though it started off a little slow."

The win gave the Mariners the series sweep over the Redsox, the first time the Sox have been swept in a series of at least three games this season.

Two buses were chartered to take all the baseball fans to the game, allowing them to kick back and relax without dealing with the rigors of driving in a big city.

"Obviously the people loved the trip," said Michael Powell, 92nd Services Squadron Tickets and Travel Office manager. "We received excellent feedback on the trip and haven't heard anything bad."

The ballgame not only provided the 92nd LRS members a little rest and relaxation but also provided an opportunity for some inter-unit bonding.

"I enjoyed the trip because I was able to get to know people from other sections of the squadron that I wouldn't normally get to know," said Airman Bemis.

In addition to the recent baseball game, Mr. Powell is organizing trips to attend professional football games for the 2007-2008 season in Seattle with games against opponents such as the Cincinnati Bengals, St. Louis Rams, Chicago Bears and the Baltimore Ravens.

"If people want to see something in particular, such as a specific team, they just have to come in and let me know and we'll put something together," said Mr. Powell.

In addition to professional sports excursions, members of Fairchild can take advantage of other Tickets and Travel Office services. These services include but are not limited to full service travel operations, putting together overnight and day trips, and discount tickets to local area attractions.

"We are also an official TicketsWest outlet where people can buy concert tickets, sporting event tickets and other attractions that are in the area," said Mr. Powell

Mr. Powell is still trying to put together a trip to watch the Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees play, hopefully sometime in August or September.

"People who don't get out much or don't have a car should take advantage of these opportunities to be able to just get away," said Airman Bemis.

So, for all those sports fans dying to see their home team play, get with Mr. Powell and let him put a special trip together.
