Aerospace Medical Technician

Santa Cruz, California

What do you do on a daily basis at Fairchild?:
I assist doctors in maintaining the health and wellness of our active duty flyers and special duty Airmen, guard, reserve and family members by providing medical care.

What do you enjoy about your job?:
I enjoy the variety of patients that come into the clinic because it allows me to remain well-versed in medicine. I also appreciate the individual personalities of each person because they make for unique interactions every day.

Why did you choose to serve in the military?:
I chose to serve so I could provide a better future for myself and my family than what I was experiencing before I enlisted.

Family?:
I am happily married to my wife, Jessie, and we have two fur babies, Mcgee and Oliver.

How long have you been in the military?:
I have been in the military for 17 months.

What is your greatest accomplishment?:
My greatest accomplishment to date is receiving the “First Airman Award” from Col. Fischer, the basic military training commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Sutherland, the BMT superintendent, for graduating at the top of my class; number one out of 565 other Airmen.

What goals do you want to achieve or meet while at Fairchild?:
It’s my goal to complete and excel in the attaining the prerequisites needed for selection into the “Interservice Physician Assistant Program” so that I may further my knowledge and career in medicine.

What are your hobbies?:
Some of my hobbies are cooking, dancing, reading and playing sports.

What is your best habit?
I believe my best habit is gratitude, because through positive thinking I can shift my focus away from problems and redirect it towards happiness, health and success.

What is your favorite quote?:
My favorite quote would have to be by Napoleon Hill as he once wrote, “What the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”

What are your favorite movies?:
My favorite movies are “Forest Gump”, “The Princess Bride” and “The Secret”.

Who is your favorite mentor and what did you learn from him/her?:
My favorite mentor is Hans Phillips, my life coach from back home, who taught me to close the gap between where I am and where I truly want to be. That through the use of analysis, self-examination, and goal setting, anyone can break through those invisible barriers to help achieve the desired success we deserve.

If you could spend one hour with any person, who would it be and why?:
I would like to spend an hour with the oldest living version of myself, to ensure that despite the many mistakes we will make, that I live a happy and fulfilling life dedicated to serving others and leaving the world better off than I found it.
