Remember that balance is key

As we enjoy our holidays and head into the New Year, I like to take time out to think about what I want to achieve in the coming year. For me and for the wing, balance is what I've come up with. We often get into situations when the mission's operations tempo makes us unbalanced. For example, are we taking care of the family; spending enough time at work, but not all our time at work; or are we maintaining our physical and spiritual selves?

I can tell you that even I get out of balance from time-to-time and need to refocus on different aspects of my life. So as you go into the New Year I encourage you to sit down with those most important to you, set the priorities for the New Year and build in a good plan for balance. We all know there will be times when work may require more time or that our schedules dictate that we miss the gym, but having a plan to stay as balanced as possible is what will make us the best husband or wife, mother or father or Airmen we can be.

So please take a little time and ask yourself if you are balanced in life. If not, make a plan to get there; if you are, figure out how you're going to keep it that way.

I'm excited for what 2009 brings. Team Fairchild has a bright future and a lot to be thankful for. Thanks for all you do each and every day...your accomplishments are truly amazing!

God Speed,

Chief
