Thanksgiving is a time for us to pause and remember the things we're all thankful for in life.

Immediately we think of our family and friends who support us in our day-to-day endeavors. But I want to take this opportunity to say that I'm also thankful for everything you do here at Fairchild.

Our mission takes us all over the world, providing global reach with our tanker fleet for the Air Force as well as our joint and coalition partners. We couldn't do that without the men and women - officer, enlisted and civilian - who make it happen every day.

At any given time, 20 percent of our wing is deployed to more than 30 different countries. Our Air Force has been consistently deployed for the last 20 years to support operations in Southwest Asia. So while you're taking a moment to recognize all you're thankful for, remember the people who are away from their families this Thanksgiving.

This is also a good time to help those who are less fortunate. The staffs at the Airmen and Family Readiness Center and the base chapel offer numerous opportunities to reach out and help the people of this community.

Between our numerous exercises, inspections and deployments, we've had a busy year at Fairchild. Take these few days to pause and reflect on the good work we've accomplished.

The Inland Northwest offers plenty of opportunity for fun and recreation, so more than anything just enjoy the time off. Next year promises to be busy as well, but right now is the time to pause and say thanks, think about what we've achieved and recharge for upcoming challenges.

While you're enjoying the downtime, do remember to be safe. You're all valuable members of our team and we need you back. Look out for yourself as well as your friends and family. Being a good wingman is important, so don't lose sight of that. So whether it's hunting, camping, or just kicking back and watching the game, be as safe as possible.

Cindy and I are proud to be a part of this wing and part of this community. We want to offer our sincere thanks for your service and to your families who endure all the hardships that come with being part of the military.

Thanks for all you do to keep this wing running. Thanks for all you do to make the mobility mission successful. Thanks for all you do to for the finest Air Force in the world. Thank you.
