As Thanksgiving draws near I pause to reflect on the many accomplishments we've achieved. We endured split operations at Moses Lake's Grant County and Spokane International airports through our runway reconstruction all the while supporting contingency operations such as New Dawn, Enduring Freedom, Odyssey Dawn, Unified Endeavor, Red Flag Alaska and many others. All of this and we still brought home a trophy from AMC Rodeo. We've certainly proven ourselves to be an unbeatable team.
This Thanksgiving, 42.5 million Americans will travel to visit loved ones. For those of you staying here for the holiday, remember you are part of one of the largest and most respected families in the world-the U.S. Air Force. The command chief and I are honored to share in your holiday by carving and serving turkey to Airmen past and present on Thanksgiving Day at the Warrior Dining Facility. Our military family will pause to share a meal, tell stories of their own Thanksgiving traditions, remember their families and reflect on the many blessings to be thankful for this year.
Nearly ten percent of the 92nd Air Refueling Wing is currently deployed across the globe keeping our nation safe and defending our way of life. Let us remember them and their loved ones who will endure another family gathering with an empty chair at the table.
Remember that you can be proud of what you do every day. It is because of your sacrifice that all Americans can gather around the table in peace this year to celebrate Thanksgiving with their families, friends and loved ones.
On behalf of my family, we're grateful to you and your families for your service and sacrifice. Have a safe and blessed Thanksgiving.
