Mammogram bus to visit Fairchild

FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. --  As a part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the 92nd Medical Group will host the Providence Women’s Health Center Mammography Coach Oct. 12, 2016, in front of the base clinic.

The coach is a mobile mammogram diagnostic screening clinic staffed by traveling medical professionals that bring preventative screenings to people that need it.

“The coach was only available for walk-ins last year, but this time we are offering appointments,” said Brenda Traylor, 92nd MDG family health administrative scheduler. “Last year we had over a dozen people get screened and we are expecting a greater turnout this year.”

This is the second year the coach has been invited to the base to provide mammogram screenings, which are no longer available at the base clinic.

“Getting regular screenings is the best way to catch a problem before it becomes serious, so we are happy to make this service available,” said Leonard Crume, 92nd MDG disease management coordinator. “We like working with our civilian healthcare counterparts to ensure that our military service members and their families get the care they need.”

Appointments will be available between 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and walk-ins are accepted if time permits. Anyone not able to be seen during the mobile clinic’s visit will be offered an appointment with a local mammogram screening center.

Mobile mammogram screenings are available to all military service members, dependents and retirees.
