Fairchild holds National POW/MIA Recognition Day Published Sept. 22, 2014 By Airman 1st Class Janelle Patiño 92nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- Team Fairchild hosted a National Prisoners of War and Missing in Action Recognition Day retreat ceremony in front of the wing headquarters building here Sept. 19. The ceremony was held to remember and honor prisoners of war and those missing in action. This day is one of six days that Congress has mandated the flying of the National League of Families' POW/MIA flag and is traditionally observed on the third Friday in September.
