92nd ARW earns AF Outstanding Unit Award Published Oct. 29, 2014 By Airman 1st Class Janelle Patiño 92nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- Air Force officials announced the 92nd Air Refueling Wing as an Air Force Outstanding Unit Award recipient for exceptionally meritorious service from Sept. 1, 2013 to Aug. 31, 2014. The Air Force Outstanding Unit Award is awarded to units which have outstanding achievement that clearly sets the unit above of national or international significance, combat operations against an armed enemy of the United States, or military operations involving conflict with or exposure to hostile actions by an opposing foreign force. During this timeframe, 92nd ARW Airmen flew more than 15,000 hours and offloaded 12 million pounds of fuel. Our Airmen propelled mission capability throughout the world, including generating four aircraft in minimal timing to support the president of the United States. The wing also conducted long-range aerial refueling for U.S. Strategic Command Operation Plan 8010, contingency missions, medical evacuation taskings and Operation Noble Eagle; saved 5 million in fuel costs with 5 percent burn decrease on 2,900 sorties; and deployed more than 770 personnel; and filled more than 80,000 deployed man-days supporting five geographic combatant commands. Members of the 92nd ARW also garnered multiple recognitions including: -The 92nd Mission Support Group was selected as the AMC's nominee for the 2014 Verne Orr Award for most effective use of its human resources. -The 92nd Medical Group Airmen earned the highest access-to-care rates, and the No. 1 patient approval dental office in AMC. -The 92nd ARW Legal Office was named as the AMC Legal Office of the Year. - The 92nd Air Refueling Squadron operators are nominated as the AMC's No. 1 air refueling aircrew. "The 92nd ARW continues to excel, from combat operations to steadfast in garrison support, you are a showcase wing," said Col. Brian McDaniel, the 92nd ARW commander. "Over the past year, you have flawlessly executed our mission, maintained a state of readiness, and taken care of our Airmen and families." All members permanently assigned to the 92nd ARW during the award timeframe are authorized to wear the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award ribbon. Airmen with a previous AFOUA may add the appropriate device to their ribbon rack.
