The base veterinary clinic has a new veterinarian and in turn, more services available for Team Fairchild's pets.

Dannette DeWeese, the new base veterinarian, fills a role at the clinic that had been vacant for six months.

"I love being a veterinarian. I love the fact I can help animals, and I love that I can keep them healthy," DeWeese said.  "We do have to remember it is not always happy times, but I am glad I am there for them."

DeWeese has been practicing for nine years. She studied at Saint George's University in Grenada for three years, then attended Purdue University in Illinois for her senior year, graduating in 2004.

This is DeWeese's first job on a military installation. DeWeese said this job allows her to have a more balanced life and she likes that she can give back.

Along with a new veterinarian, a new vet clinic is scheduled to open in December. This facility will feature a surgery room, which DeWeese said she hopes will allow them to spay and neuter the animals. The facility will also have three exam rooms, one of which is dedicated to the military working dogs.

The clinic now offers its services to all Reserve personnel as well as Active-Duty personnel, Retired and Department of Defense civilians. Some services include:

· Well-pet exams

· Vaccinations

· Micro-chipping

· Allergy testing

· Heart-worm testing

Current hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Hours vary on Fridays for sick call.
