Fairchild Air Force Base held it's first-ever all-women's basketball tournament June 13 and 14.

The Lady Falcons, Fairchild's women's basketball team, invited four other teams to play in an all-women's tournament including two teams from Medical Lake High School, Washington, the Spokane YMCA women's team and the Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington, women's team.

"After three months of preparation and coordination with organizations from across the base, I truly believe the tournament was a complete success," said Tech. Sgt. Noel Hachtel, the Lady Falcons' coach from the 92nd Logistics Readiness Squadron. "This event provided the women of Spokane, Medical Lake and Tacoma the opportunity to compete against other women and  proudly represent their organization or base playing competitive basketball."

The tournament consisted of 14 games over the course of two days ending with JBLM winning the championship. The YMCA team placed second, followed by the Lady Falcons in third place.

Airman Teslyn Tyner, a member of the Lady Falcon's basketball team from the 92nd LRS, was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player scoring 110 points in six games.

"Of the 75 players and seven coaches who participated in the tournament, we have heard only great reviews and excitement for the opportunity to compete in this event next summer," Hachtel said.
