Fairchild's Health Promotions Flight hosts a healthy cooking class every first and third Wednesday and is hosted by the base's dietician, Alyson Kresser.

"So the cooking classes are a great opportunity to learn some valuable life skills, prepare healthy meals for yourself or your family members, make some friends and learn some health tips along the way," Kresser said.

Will Saultes, the 92nd Aerospace Medicine Squadron health promotions manager, said the cooking classes are all about learning new and old healthy options that taste good too.

"We try to capture what military members desire in the form of food and show how they can make those staples healthier," Saultes said.

Healthier options could add up to meeting weight loss goals or assist with food allergies.

"If people are suffering from overweight issues, chronic pain or are just low on energy, what we eat is a huge part of that," Kresser said. "So coming here and learning some things definitely can help with everything as far as health aspects."

Daisy Masis, wife of Senior Airman Johnny Masis, 92nd Logistics Readiness Squadron fuels distribution journeyman, said the classes have been "so beneficial, especially since I have gluten and dairy allergies."

Masis said her favorite class was learning about how to make spaghetti out of zucchini using a spiralizer.

"I'm so thankful for this class," she said. "Ally [Kresser] has been so helpful teaching us about all these different healthy alternatives to every day foods. I'd recommend these free classes to anyone interested."
