A National Night Out event was held August 4 at Miller Park here.

National Night Out, an annual event held the first Tuesday of August, was created by the National Association of Town Watch in 1984.

"National Night Out is celebrated year-round to bring the community together," said Senior Airman Timothy Riley, 92nd Security Forces police services program manager. "The annual event makes policing neighborhoods that much easier and makes crime less tangible."

Fairchild Airmen and families took part in the event by observing gear displays and various informational stations from Fairchild programs to educate the community.

Among those stations was a selection of vehicles for the attendees to inspect, including: 92nd Security Forces patrol car and Humvee, a Spokane County Sheriff transport vehicle and an armored transport vehicle, Fairchild Fire Department fire trucks and a Fire District 10 fire truck.

"It was amazing to get the opportunity to go inside the vehicles that law enforcement and other agencies use every day," said Jennifer, a Team Fairchild member. "It's not every day that people get to see the tools used by our local community heroes, but we did thanks to the National Night Out Event."
