Kenzi Novell, Miss Washington USA, spent today getting an inside look at Fairchild Air Force Base to learn more about the mission here.

Novell started her visit by touring a KC-135 Stratotanker in one of the base's hangers and then continued to see other aspects of the base including a military working dog demonstration, the aircraft control tower, 336th Training Group Survival Evasion Resistance and Escape Water Survival, Michael Anderson Elementary School, the flight simulator facility. She also received a mission brief from Col. Brian McDaniel, 92nd Air Refueling Wing commander and other base leadership.

When asked what her favorite aspect of the tour was, Novell said, "It's a toss-up between the kids at Michael Anderson Elementary School and the SERE water survival."

Novell wanted to visit Fairchild after previously visiting McChord Air Force Base, Washington. Novell is a native of Spokane, Washington and a graduate of Gonzaga University.

"I was impressed by the professionalism and all the dedication shown by Airmen across the base," said Novell.

While visiting Fairchild, Novell was given a snapshot of Air Force life and what it means to be an Airman.

"I now have a greater respect for the Air Force and what it is they do on a day-to-day basis."

Novell left Fairchild by thanking the base for giving her a chance to better understand its vital mission.
