After-hours fitness

For after-hours use of the Fitness Center, there are rules and guidelines that need to be followed.

In recent months, there have been multiple rule violations during the non-duty hours of the Fitness Center, particularly in the area of age discrepancies.

"We have kids coming into the building, which is a violation of the rules," said Mr. John Gahagan, 92nd Force Support Squadron fitness and sports manager. "Parents and guardians should be aware of these regulations."

As an initial course of action, the Fitness Center placed signs on the entrance doors as a warning. They include the list of rules for after-hours fitness center use patrons had to sign in order to gain access to the gym.

"The purpose of 24-hour access is to provide active duty personnel 18 years and older, or 17 years in some cases, access to the gym in order to help them pass their physical training test," said Tech. Sgt. Amy Flores 92nd FSS Fitness Center section chief.

Gahagan was asked to draft up a new course of action on who can use the facility, but he cannot do that until the rules that are already in place are followed.

"If we can get people to comply with the rules they've signed, we can extend after-hours access to family members," said Gahagan.

Members are reminded rules are put into place to protect people and to help avoid injuries.

"Our core values encompass monitoring the rules at night. We are capital "A" Airmen, and we have core values! It doesn't matter where you are," said Gahagan.
