Let Freedom Ring event honors Team Fairchild members

Greater Spokane Incorporated held its 60th Annual Let Freedom Ring breakfast April 8 at the Red Lion Hotel at the Park in Spokane, Washington to recognize the Armed Forces Persons of the Year.

Let Freedom Ring celebrates the nation's military through a special awards program that honors local active duty, guard and reserve members of the armed forces.

Out of the 27 nominees, 13 were active duty Air Force and five were Air National Guard members. Each nominee had to complete a 20-minute interview.

Team Fairchild members named 2016 Armed Forces Persons of the Year are:

Active Duty, grades E-1 through E-4 - Senior Airman Amber Straus, 92nd Air Refueling Wing command support staff executive assistant.

Active Duty, grades E-5 through E-6 - Tech. Sgt. Joshua Embry, 66th Training Squadron Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape instructor.

Active Duty, grades E-7 through E-9 - Master Sgt. Casey Hearn, 92nd Maintenance Squadron NCO in charge of munitions accountability.

Guard/Reserve, Grades E-7 through E-9 - Master Sgt. John Mitchell, 116th Air Refueling Squadron boom operator instructor.
