Many people choose to serve in the military due to the educational benefits that serving provides. For numerous Airmen, they begin with the Community College of the Air Force.

"We strive to meet the demands of the Air Force's expeditionary environment," said Lt. Col. Nathan Leap, CCAF commandant on the Air University website. "At the same time, we help Airmen achieve their educational goals by capitalizing on job-related training and education as part of flexible degree completion programs."

CCAF is the world's largest community college system and partners with approximately 108 different affiliated Air Force schools with about 82 Education Service Offices located worldwide. More than 1,500 civilian academic institutions serve roughly 300,000 active, guard and reserve enlisted personnel.

"CCAF is regionally accredited and the best part of it is you take classes wherever you want," said Barry Miller, 92nd Force Support Squadron education counselor. "If you don't know what degree you want, work on your CCAF and knock out the basic courses. Once that's finished, you're done with your associate's, and one step closer to your education goal."

According to Miller, Airmen put a lot of time and energy into their jobs, so they want them to earn their weight in education and take advantage of the benefits provided to Air Force personnel.

"We're here to help you achieve your education goals," said Miller. "We want you to get the most 'bang' for your buck."

For those who plan to use the Air Force Tuition Assistance benefit, there is a Tuition Assistance briefing every Tuesday at 8 a.m., in the Education Center.
