"Our mission is to provide responsive, precise aerial refueling and operational support for the full range of military missions." Newberry spoke of where the wing has been since arriving at Fairchild just over a year ago, where the wing currently stands and where the Wing is going. He mentioned the sacrifice of our country since 9/11 particularly the over 7,000 Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines who made the ultimate sacrifice. He asked the Wing to maintain the resolve and "Let's Roll" attitude that will ensure we keep our nation's freedom. America gave the world freedom. He also touched base on hot topics within the wing such as our goal to eradicate sexual assault, active shooter and readiness exercises, safety, the upcoming unit effectiveness inspection and drug use in the military. He also mentioned the 92nd will start to wear blues the last day of every month to show its Air Force pride. The colonel urged Team Fairchild to maintain its high level of accountability and standards while holding true to our core values including incorporating respect for each and every Airman. "You know what is required and you know what you need to do," said Newberry. "Fairchild is able to do what we need to for the Air Force because safety and effectiveness are our watchwords." "Safety is critical and we need to continue being safe across the board or nothing else matters," he said. Newberry then turned the floor over to Chief Master Sgt. Wendy Hansen, 92nd ARW command chief. Hansen started by pulling up a photo of the U.S. flag and saying, "That's why we do it." The Chief spoke to Team Fairchild on resilience in all aspect of Comprehensive Airmen's Fitness which covers mental, physical, social and spiritual health. "We need to be resilient," said Hansen. "If you have a problem, we have agencies out there to help you." Newberry concluded the commander's call by touching on the history and legacy of Fairchild and the air dominance that the base is key in providing.
