Every year, the 92nd USAAF-USAF Memorial Association holds a reunion picnic at the Waterfront Park at Medical Lake.

On Sept. 8, more than 50 members of the 92nd, past and present, attended the reunion from 1 to 4 p.m. Veterans who served in every conflict since World War II were in attendance.

"The 92nd foundation is strong, and we are a legacy of excellence," said Col. Brian Newberry. "This year's reunion was exquisite, 92nd Wing veterans have made big footsteps for us to fill and I pledge we will follow in them."

The association began as a post-WWII organization with the 92nd Bomb Group, "Fames Favored Few," and had amongst its goals to preserve friendships and memories as comrades-in-arms and to preserve the legacy of excellence of the unit.

Recently, the Association's focus expanded in order to preserve common denominator of the successor organizations associated with the 92nd - the legacy of excellence. Now the organizations members includes over 2,000 members of veterans, active duty, surviving spouses or children from all eras, from World War II through to today.

"It was great to see friends I hadn't seen in years," said retired Col. Dan Simmons, 92nd
Memorial Association vice president. "It was also nice to have Col. Newberry address the group and tell them that their outstanding service in the 92nd made a difference and helped build a strong foundation for the 92nd ARW today."
