Essay winner wins for the second year in a row Published Oct. 1, 2013 By Senior Airman Samantha Krolikowski 92nd Air Refueling Wing Public Affairs FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- Club members and their families were given the opportunity to win an Air Force Clubs Membership Scholarship this year by submitting a one page 500 word essay on "who or what inspires you to be successful and why?" A total of 156 entries were submitted to the Directorate of Services, Operations Division, Food and Beverage Branch, Joint Base San Antonio- Lackland, Texas. Out of the 156 entries, only 25 were chosen. One of Fairchild's very own was on the list of winners for a second time. In order for a civilian to enter the contest they had to be a dependent of a club member, write an essay and be attending college. "I did not think I would win two years in a row," said Kelli Goode, who qualified for the contest as a dependent of a club member and is a current college student. "I felt really proud, excited and shocked all at the same time." Out of the 156 entries, only 25 were chosen. Applying for the scholarship was a really great opportunity that allowed for me to help further my education, said Kelli. "I'm very proud of Kelli, she works hard and it's nice to see her earn the rewards," said Maj. Sean C. Goode, 92nd Maintenance Squadron commander and Kelli's father. Kelli graduated from Mascoutah High School in Illinois 2012 and is in a condensed five year Certified Public Accountant and Master's degree in an Accounting program as a sophomore at University of Oklahoma. The winners received a $1,000 scholarship and a Dell Inspiron 15 laptop with a 15" screen, i5 processor, six GB RAM, 500 GB hard drive and a Cannon Pixma MG 3220 portable inkjet printer. The scholarships were funded through Chase Bank and the computer and printers were provided by Dell Computer Corporation. "I feel honored to win again, and I am very thankful for the sponsors who continue to help me further my education," said Kelli.
