The 92nd Civil Engineer Squadron's Explosive Ordnance Disposal flight conducted its fifth safety day Nov. 15, to increase awareness and inform EOD Airmen about several agencies that are available to them.

"Safety Day is where we step back and refresh our minds on safety involved with our job, as well as the support that is out there for us to utilize," said Airman 1st Class Steven Taylor, 92nd CES EOD flight specialist. "It's also a time where we as a flight can focus on very important aspects in safety; not just about explosives or equipment, but mental, physical and family wellness."

The day consisted of eight informative briefings from different agencies to refresh Airmen's minds on the things they need to know. It also gave leaders a chance to take time to discuss the realities of overseas contingency operations.

"It's important to remind everybody that there are people on and off base that can help in times of need," said Taylor. "Also bring to light where we can go for some situations and for our family members to know what sources can help when their spouses get deployed."

The program also focused on mental and physical health to keep Airmen ready to fight. Fourteen attendees including EOD technicians and their families were present during the day.

"It's nice to have a day where we learn more things about the Air Force and what options are available for us," said Master Sgt. Jesus Hernandez, 92nd CES EOD flight chief. "There's always something new in our Air Force and the annual safety day is perfect to update and make sure Airmen are aware of the things that are going on."

The Veterans Affairs briefing by Mr. Jack Davis, Chapel briefing by Tech. Sgt. Jerry Britt and Care Management Program briefing by Ms. Krista Poor are some of the few briefings that were held that day. Col. Brian Newberry, 92nd Air Refueling Wing commander, was also invited for lunch to connect with the EOD Airmen.
