Fairchild is hosting a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance clinic in 2014, with a few changes taking place since the 2013 program.

The clinic will run Feb. 3 - April 18, 2014, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday - Friday. The program is open for ranks airman basic to technical sergeant and lieutenants.

"Many people look forward to tax refunds to pay bills, put toward college funds or save for the unexpected," said Capt. Jessica Jacquay, 92nd Air Refueling Wing Judge Advocate civil law chief. "For those people, the VITA program wants to make the tax filing process easier and faster. We want our military members and their families to have one less thing to worry about."

Instead of a centralized office location this time, each unit has been asked to appoint tax representatives, approximately one for every 50 personnel, with larger squadrons appointing additional VITA representatives as their needs dictate. Those representatives will prepare the taxes at their own squadron locations and then submit them to the Legal Office for review.

There are several items people should bring with them to their appointment, including:

· A 2012 tax return copy
· Proof of identification including spouses, and social security cards (including        dependents)
· All forms W-2 and 1099, including information for all deductions and credits
· Personal bank account information for direct deposit

"The VITA program is a free service and our hope is that we can get refunds flowing to our Fairchild families in a quick and efficient manner," said 1st Lt. Alexis Webster, Fairchild's tax assistance coordinator.
