Force shaping town hall meetings Published Jan. 6, 2014 Fairchild Career Development Office FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- The Air Force is planning to downsize by approximately 25,000 Airmen and as many as 550 aircraft over the next 5 years. This reduction will make the service smaller than ever as an Air Force, and these "shrinking pains" will be felt in countless units and families across the Air Force. As Air Force leaders work to ensure the service has the Airmen needed to keep its global mission moving forward, the Air Force will undergo 18 projected "Force Shaping" (or Force Management) programs for officer and enlisted personnel this year. The 92nd Force Support Squadron military personnel section is holding town hall briefings in the base theater to clarify how these different Force Shaping programs may affect Fairchild Airmen and answer any general questions. As Force Shaping affects both Airmen and their families, spouses are welcome to attend as well. TOWN HALL BRIEFING SCHEDULE: Tuesday, Jan. 7 9 a.m. -- Enlisted Programs 4 p.m. -- Officer Programs (provide overview of Enlisted programs as well) Thursday, Jan. 9 9 a.m. -- Officer Programs (provide overview of Enlisted programs as well) 4 p.m. -- Enlisted Programs For more information, contact the career development office at (509) 247-9200.
