Closure of Commercial Travel Office Published Jan. 14, 2014 By Denise A. Olds 92nd Logistics Readiness Squadron FAIRCHILD AIR FORCE BASE, Wash. -- Fairchild's Commercial Travel Office closed its doors to walk-in customers on Jan. 2 due to a 33% drop in expected revenue. The Defense Travel Management Office made the decision to close the Fairchild office, as well as eight other CTO establishments who were experiencing similar decreases in revenue-generating traffic. Fairchild and all other affected installations transitioned to a "call center" for all reservations and ticketing. For all domestic travel reservations and ticketing, customers can contact the CTO call center at (509) 228-8511 or (877) 820-2793. Customers are now responsible for ensuring their reservations are made and tickets are issued. During this process, customers may experience longer than usual wait times due to the operational transition. When making a reservation, customers will be required to provide name, date of birth, Government Travel Card number and the last four of their social security number. Currently, the call center does not have encrypted email capability; therefore, customers must fax a copy of their orders to one of the two numbers listed above within 72 hours of departure to assure tickets are issued. It is important to note all reservations made but not ticketed within 72 hours of departure are automatically cancelled by the airlines. It is imperative members take an active role in their travel plans to ensure they do not experience any delays or cancellations. TMO will continue to handle all deployment-related and overseas travel, whether TDY or PCS. Members may contact TMO at (509) 247-5815 for any deployment or overseas travel questions or assistance with their travel needs.
