The annual Air Force Assistance Fund kicked off March 3 to raise funds and provide support to the Air Force family in need, including active duty, retirees, reservists, guard and their dependents as well as surviving spouses.

The campaign is conducted at Air Force installations and runs for six consecutive weeks, ending April 11.

"The AFAF campaign is an opportunity for Airmen to help their fellow Airmen and their families," said 1st Lt. Benjamin Pritchard, 92nd Air Refueling Wing project officer.

The campaign is supported by four organizations: the Air Force Village, Inc., the Air Force Aid Society, Inc., the General and Mrs. Cutis E. LeMay Foundation and the Air Force Enlisted Village, Inc.

"These organizations will help Airmen during emergencies and with educational needs," said Pritchard. "This is also for Air Force members who are in need of financial assistance and for those who want to have a secure retirement home for widows or widowers."

According to Pritchard, 92nd ARW commander Col. Brian Newberry's goal is 100 percent accountability for this year's campaign. He wants Airmen to feel involved with other Airmen and let them know they're part of something great.

Donations are highly appreciated, said Pritchard. Unit representatives will be going around each unit with donation paperwork and payments will be processed through cash, check or payroll deduction for any amount for those who choose to give.

"This is a great opportunity for Airmen to help fellow Airmen," said Master Sgt. Richard Skidmore, 92nd Communications Squadron operations flight chief. "Whether you're an Airman or a commander, every dollar counts. You may not know the Airman you're helping, but know with every penny you donate, you are making a difference in another Airman's life."
